The Birds
A flock emerges from the darkness.
The Birds is built on a blush ground with a mass of near-black at its center. Out of that darkness, a flock of ivory forms rise- each one a bird and a leaf at once, wing tips resolving into points, tails into stems. Pale lilac streams run beneath them like wisps of clouds. Three orbs in deep burgundy float among the pale forms, imitating the sun or drifting flowers.
The composition holds the darkness at the back and foregrounds everything light. It is the most feminine piece in the collection and the most playful. Hand-quilting runs across the blush field in long curving lines, giving the ground its movement and lifting the appliqué above. Made in Jaipur from antique silk sarees.
Our 2026 collection of tapestries is made using a traditional hand-quilting technique. The result is a piece with a sculptural, three-dimensional presence that is also hard-wearing and lighter to hang. Each comes with removable top and bottom bars, so it can be displayed without additional hardware.
All tapestries are editions of twenty, regardless of size or customization. Once the last one sells, it is added to the archives.
