Custom Tapestries & Commissions

House of Quentin Jones creates large-scale bespoke tapestries combining antique with hand embroidery, produced in collaboration with textile artisans in Jaipur.
Each piece begins with a tactile, hands-on design process informed by drawing and collage, then evolves through the careful selection of antique and deadstock fabrics. This flexible, material-led approach creates the potential to work with existing surplus or archived textiles — a sustainable and conceptually rich framework for collaboration, with large-scale textile installations that can be fully bespoke to the client, brand, or environment they inhabit.
Whether produced as special editions or site-specific commissions, HOQJ tapestries unite upcycled materials, contemporary surrealism, and world-class embroidery craftsmanship. The result is a body of work that feels layered, sculptural, and distinctly attuned to both history and place.
Custom Process
Project Brief
We begin by gathering references for the space — architectural context, inspiration imagery, palette, and any concepts the client or designer would like to explore.
Concept & Moodboard
Quentin develops a visual moodboard for the piece, drawing together reference imagery and visual direction for the tapestry.
Design Development
The tapestry composition is designed, translating Quentin's collage-based process into a textile layout suitable for appliqué and embroidery.
Refinement & Visualization
The design is refined through feedback and amendments. We can also provide renderings of the tapestry in the intended space to help determine scale and placement. At this stage we finalize Pantone colour selections, which guide the dyeing of the antique silk fabrics.
What Does a Custom Tapestry Cost?
The design development fee ranges from $3,000–$8,000, depending on the complexity of the project. Once the design direction is approved, we provide a production quote based on the scale and level of embroidery.
These are unique works created specifically for each project. Commissions can come in any size, but a typical range is 4–10 feet wide, with larger architectural pieces also possible. For projects where timeline or budget is a consideration, we can adapt existing HOQJ designs to fit a particular space, which can reduce costs considerably.
Production
Following design sign-off, the tapestry is produced by hand in Jaipur in collaboration with our textile partners. Production typically takes 8–10 weeks, with House of Quentin Jones overseeing development throughout.
Once completed, the tapestry is sent to our Brooklyn studio, where our seamstress reviews the finishing and ensures the piece hangs beautifully before it is carefully prepared for delivery and installation.
